"Out & About" in the area

In our mar menor apartment we keep a folder with lots of information about things to see and do in the area. Here are a few ideas to whet your appetite!

Our apartment in the Mar Menor (Little Sea) is in a unique area on the east coast of Spain, within the region of Murcia. Featuring both a saltwater lake and a Mediterranean shore with the salt water lake having an area of 170sq.km, the largest salt water lake in Europe!

Lo Pagan is known for its therapeutic mud baths, the mud is renowned for its healing powers. The mud is applied over the skin and allowed to dry in the sun before being washed off in the salt waters. The salt water itself is also known for its healing effects.
With so much water here there is no wonder that the area is a haven for watersports. The possibilities here are endless from sailing to diving, windsurfing and jetskiing.

Shopping & entertainment is covered locally with the Dos Mares shopping centre. Supermarket, Shops, Restaurants and a Cinema - open 7 days a week.

And a must visit - even if only for a coffe in the walled courtyard - is Balneario de la Encarnación Hotel. In Los Alcazares, on the sea front, where time seems to have stopped. A spa hotel built in 1904 with the most beautiful walled courtyard full of plants and flowers and shaded in the heat of the day. During the summer they have live music to dance the night away with the sea just a few metres away
